William Laurin Young, 76, of 347 Central School Road, husband of Thelma Simpson Young, passed away Saturday, June 18, 2011 at J. F. Hawkins Nursing Home in Newberry. Born in Florence County, he was a son of the late Allard D. Young and Willie Delura Holcomb Young. A graduate of Greenwood High School, Laurin was the president and valedictorian of the 1960 class at Holmes Theological Seminary in Greenville. He was a builder and developed Fawn Brook and Kingswood. Laurin was also an ordained minister and co founder of Walhalla Pentecostal Holiness Church and Providence Pentecostal Holiness Church, where he was a member. Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are a son, Rev. Ken L. (Jackie) Young of Yukon, OK; two daughters, Faye Y. (Donny) Trotter of Ninety Six and Laura (David) Brunson of Pomaria; a sister, Shirley Foshee of Greenwood; two brothers, Ronald Young of Camden and Oneal Young of Ninety Six; seven grandchildren, Andrew Young, Kara Young, Keith Trotter, Dylan Trotter, Matthew Trotter, Jonathon Brunson and Alexis Brunson; and three great granddaughters. Pallbearers will be Jonathon Brunson, Andrew Young, Christopher Tullis, Larry Scott, Randy Lawrence and Dylan Trotter. Honorary escort will be the members of the Pentecostal Holiness Conference and the Truth Bible Study.
