Marilyn Lavenia T. Young, 70, of Greenwood, wife of Jerry Young, passed away Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at her home.

Born in Greenwood, she was a daughter of the late Marvin and Mae Son Turner. Lavenia was known for her passion for crafting, her love for the beach and mountains, and most of all, for cherishing time spent with her family, particularly spoiling her grandchildren. She was a member of North Side Baptist Church and attended Coronaca Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by brother, Jasper Turner; sister-in-law, Nancy Michaels; and brother-in-law, Chuck Young.

Surviving in addition to her husband of the home are her son, Chris Young (Dana) of Waterloo; grandchildren, Whyatt Young, Mackenzie Young and Jaxon Young; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Lybrand (Kerry), Nell Simpson and Debbie Turner; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 3pm on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at Harley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Todd Pollatty officiating. Committal will follow at Greenwood Memorial Gardens Chapel Mausoleum.

Pallbearers will be her nephews.

The family will receive friends following the committal at the mausoleum chapel.
