Leigh Blackwell Childress, 47, of Greenwood, passed away Thursday, October 7, 2021, at her home.

Born in Greenwood, she was the daughter of James and Jo Ann Woods Blackwell. Leigh was a graduate of Laurens High School and was employed with Self Regional Medical Center. She was a true baseball mom. Always at the ball field with the boys and loved her children and grandchildren with all her heart.

Surviving in addition to her parents of Laurens are her sons, James Childress (Veronica) and Jacob Childress (Jennifer) both of Greenwood; her life partner and best friend, Jamie Childress; a brother, Chris Blackwell (Laura); grandchildren: Chloe and Jayce Childress, Karma, Fan, Head and Mona, all of Greenwood and one on the way; and her childhood best friend, Dottie Filiatreault (Brad) and her children, Curt and Pete.

A memorial service will be held at 2 pm on Sunday at Harley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Frank Thomas officiating.

The family will receive friends following the service.

The family is at the home of her parents, 5601 Highway 221 South, Laurens.
