Lorraine Cecilia Howard, 77, of Greenwood, SC, formerly of New Bedford, MA, passed away on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, unexpectedly. She was the wife of the late John J. Howard, who passed away in 2021.

Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Harry R. and Cecilia (Teixeira) Dunham, she had resided in New Bedford before moving to South Carolina in October 2021. Mrs. Howard had a successful career as a Nurse at St. Luke's Hospital for over 30 years until her retirement. Lorraine enjoyed crafts, casinos, and feeling the love from family and friends. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her son, John J. Howard, III and his wife Renay of Greenwood, SC; her brother, Harry R. Dunham and his wife Jo-Ann of Assonet; her grandchildren, Ashley Hansen and John J. Howard, IV; and her great-grandchildren, Malaki and Alyssa Thomas.

Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2024, from 2-4 p.m. in the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford, MA. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking to help a veteran, it can be to donate to a veteran charity, give them dinner, a place to stay, or just listen if that is what they need.
