Robert McBride �Mack� Attaway, 66, of 105 Oakdale Drive, died Sunday, December 30, 2012 at Self Regional Medical Center. Born in Greenwood County, he was the son of the late Wallace F. Hall and Ethel McBride Hall. Mack was an Eagle Scout, a recipient of the God and Country award and a member of the Order of Arrow, Troop 70 of Greenwood. He graduated from Greenwood High School in 1964 where he was on the Student Council, in the House of Representatives, and the President of the Science Club. Mack graduated from Lander College in 1970 with a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration. He was instrumental in helping establish Lander�s first National Fraternity, Pi Kappa Phi, which was organized as the Gamma Rho Chapter in 1970. Mack was proud to be the number three initiate and served as Historian. Mack�s formal career started as Purchasing Agent for Robert�s Foundry in Greenwood; from there he moved to Jarvis Cutting Tools as Sales Representative for the Carolinas. Finally he established his own company, Attaway Machine & Tool Company. Mack will be remembered for his love of fast automobiles and fine clothes, but above all else, his beautiful smile and his warm personality. He never met a stranger. He was preceded in death by his loving companion, Diane Weeks. Mack is survived by a special friend, Lynn B. Vail; two aunts, Bobbie H. Brewer of Oakridge, TN and Myrtle McDowell of Ninety Six; an uncle, Ervin McBride, of Anaheim, CA; a number of cousins; and by Diane�s Family: Monteze & Chuck Weeks, Lisa & Billy Dunn and Kelsey & Spence Dunn. Pallbearers will be Bobby Ellerbe, Robert Bollinger, Donnie McDowell, Richard Butler, Bayne Rowland, and Brent Rowland.
