Obituary

Madison F. "Mac " Bond, Jr., 88, husband of Paula "Jean " Copeland Bond, died peacefully on Sunday, May 10, 2015 at Hospice House. Mr. Bond was a beloved husband, grandfather and great grandfather, as well as a loyal friend and neighbor. He was a 1949 graduate of Presbyterian College, earning a B.S. degree in Chemistry and was a US Navy veteran of World War II, where he served in the South Pacific for two years. He was a textile executive for over 40 years with Deering Milliken, Burlington Industries and Concord Fabrics. After retirement, he volunteered for over ten years for Habitat for Humanity and was involved in the development of Springwood and Mathews Village. In addition, he and his brother, Bill Bond, developed Bond Trails, a 175 acre property on Radisson Road in Seneca, SC, which is known today as Bond Trails and Sunset Ridge. He was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church, Greenwood, where he faithfully served in many capacities. He was preceded in death by his parents, Madison F. and Bessie Graham Bond; brothers, William H. "Bill " Bond and Cecil Bond; a sister, Louella Skelton and brother-in-law, James Skelton; a grandson, Josh Hagen and son-in-law, Steve Hagen. Surviving is his wife of 64 years; daughters, Linda Hagen of Greenwood and Debbie Tadlock of Statesville, NC; son, Dr. Tom Bond and daughter-in-law, Tricia, of Asheville, NC; a sister, Patricia Teat and brother-in-law, Bill, of Berea, SC; a grandson, Matthew Hagen of Simpsonville, SC; five granddaughters, Ashley Bond of Asheville, Maggie Asher and her husband, Josh, of Hickory, NC, Hannah Bond of Nashville, TN, Ami Coats and her husband, Barry, of Lexington, SC, Molli De Rosa and her husband, JJ, of Louisville, KY; five great grandchildren, Thomas Asher, Kati and Erin Coats, Kelli and J. R. De Rosa; and nine special nieces and three special nephews.
