Mae Hill Salters, 86, of 87 Third Street, widow of Preston Salters, died Saturday, June 13, 2009 at her home. Born in Laurens, she was the daughter of the late Lila Mae Hill. Mrs. Salters retired from Greenwood Mills where she was a member of the Quarter Century Club and was of the Presbyterian faith. She was the last surviving member if her immediate family. Surviving are two sons: Bill Salters, and his wife Roberta of Waterloo and Marion Salters of Ninety Six; four daughters: Margaret Burckhalter of Greenwood, Wendy Redd and her husband Larry, Elaine Judy and her husband Mike and Tilda McAllister and her husband Preston, all of Ninety Six; nineteen grandchildren; thirty great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son Claude Salters. Pallbearers will be her grandsons. Honorary escort will be her great grandchildren, and special friends: Billy Fuller, Julia Gregory and Dean Butler. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice Care of the Piedmont, 408 West Alexander Ave., Greenwood, SC 29646. The family is at the home.
