Malissa Ann Knott Fuqua, 86, of Greenwood, wife of James "Jim" R. Fuqua, passed away Tuesday, April 29, 2025 at Hospice and Palliative Care of the Piedmont.
Born on January 7, 1939, in Old Hickory, Tennessee, to the late Roy Calvin Knott and Annette Adamson Knott, she was a vibrant spirit who filled the lives of those around her with love, joy, and kindness.
Malissa dedicated her life to her family, raising four wonderful children alongside her husband. They spent 39 years in Aiken before moving to Greenwood ten years ago, where she continued to embrace life with joy and passion. Malissa's love for her children and grandchildren was evident in everything she did, and her family will carry on her legacy of compassion and strength. She took great pride in being a devoted Clemson Tiger fan, enjoying the excitement of tailgating and cheering for her team. She found joy in playing tennis, reading, and indulging in her favorite crime shows. Malissa also cherished her close-knit group of friends in Aiken, with whom she met regularly. As a member of St. John's Methodist Church in Aiken, her faith was a vital part of her life, guiding her to serve others and foster connections within her community.
In addition to her husband, Jim she is survived by her children, Dr. Kevin R. Fuqua (Dr. Linda), Jamie A. Davies (C.D.), Keisha R. Uhle (Mike), and Kenneth J. Fuqua (Lori); sisters, Mary Wiles (Emerson) and Katina Hare (Nick); grandchildren, Dr. Megan Arbra (Dr. Chase), Dr. Lindsay Snider (Dr. Michael), Dr. Matthew Fuqua (Dr. Dana), Danielle Shaffer (Richie), Drew Davies (Alexis), Ryan Uhle, Natalie Uhle, Jared Uhle, Cole Fuqua, and Shea Fuqua; and great grandchildren, Olivia Arbra, Callum Arbra, Sienna Shaffer, Colbie Shaffer, and Aurora Davies.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on May 8th at St. John's Methodist Church, 104 Newberry Street NW, Aiken SC 29801, with Rev. Tim McClendon officiating.
