Margaret Elizabeth Culbertson Hughes, 86, formerly of 206 Lanett Street, widow of Berry Singleton Hughes, died Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at Abbeville Nursing Home. Born in Laurens, she was the daughter of the late Herman Culbertson and Lucia V. Culbertson Hollingsworth. Ms. Hughes retired from Greenwood Mills-Harris Plant and was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church. Surviving are a son, Marion Hughes and his wife Pat of Hodges; three daughters: Mary H. Davis and her husband Joe, Helen H. Montjoy and her husband Jerry, all of Greenwood and Nancy H. Price of Abbeville; a brother Ernest Earl Hollingsworth, Jr. of Greenwood; twelve grandchildren; and twenty great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her step father Ernest Earl Hollingsworth, Sr.; two brothers: Bobby Culbertson and Arthur Culbertson; and by a great grandson Timmy Wideman. Pallbearers will be Al Price, Ronnie Price, Emory Vaughn, Tony Simpson, Darrell Tinsley and Jim Sorrow. Honorary escort will be Clyde Lee, Billy Davis, Fred Holmes and Merl Spier.
