Margaret Ham Justus of Crooked Creek went to be with our Lord on Tuesday, October 31, 2017.

Born on February 18, 1924 in Effingham, SC, she was a resident of Henderson County, NC since 1946. She was the daughter of the late Myers Leroy Ham and Carrie M. Ham Conner. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by Charles Donald Justus, building contractor, her beloved husband of 58 years, who passed away on October 19, 2000; her brother, Myers Leroy Ham, Jr. and three sisters, Evelyn Atkinson, Belva Lee and Billie Rosseler.

Mrs. Justus was a 70-year member of Grace Lutheran Church, serving as a Sunday School teacher and member of Martha Ackrad Circle of Church Women. She had many friends where she resided in Hendersonville and in Wild Dunes (Isle of Palms, SC), as well as Mt. Pleasant, SC. She was very active in the Hendersonville community, including the Hendersonville Country Club, a decorating business, Forest Woman's Club and the Home Builders Wives Club.

Mrs. Justus is survived by her four children, Dianne and Michael Derrick of Jacksonville, FL, Donny and Toni Justus of Ninety Six, SC, Vicky Ott of Lakeland, FL and Jenny Daly of Mt. Pleasant, SC; seven grandchildren, Paul Gash of Grantville, GA, Stuart Gash of Tallahassee, FL, Lisa Snedecor of Arden, NC, Todd Justus of Raleigh, NC, Jeffrey Ott and Matthew Ott, both of Mt. Pleasant, SC and Chip Justus of San Diego, CA; eleven great grandchildren, Stephanie Gas and Christopher Gash, Sammimae and Tyler Choiniere, Hannah and Brett Gash, Emily, Lauren and Luke Snedecor, Greyson, Peyton and Austin Ott, Coner Justus and Margot Rae Justus; a great great granddaughter, Alexxi Adams; a great great grandson, Grayson Choiniere; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, November 3 at Grace Lutheran Church officiated by the Rev. Ken Langsdorf. Burial was in Oakdale Cemetery.

The family would like to thank her caregivers, Four Seasons Hospice and the Elizabeth House.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations in Mrs. Justus' memory be directed to Grace Lutheran Church, 1245 6th Avenue West, Hendersonville, NC 28791 or to the North Carolina Association for the Blind.
