Margie Elaine Coursey Newsome, 77, formerly of 218 Townsend Road East, Hodges, widow of Moody Newsome, died Saturday, December 25, 2010 at Hospice House. Born in Greenwood County on April 24, 1933, she was a daughter of the late Elzie Lee and Mary Etta Burnett Coursey. She attended Greenwood County schools and graduated from Greenwood High School night classes. She was a retired fire tower woman with the South Carolina State Commission of Forestry in Hodges. She was a member of Beulah Baptist Church, Abbeville, and was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend to all who knew her. Surviving are two daughters, Barbara Newsome Ellerbe of Hodges and Carole Brock (Andy) of Due West; a sister, Dorothy �Dot� Knight of Greenwood; a brother, Billy Coursey of Greenwood; and two precious grandchildren, Matthew Ethan Brock and Rebecca Louise Brock of Due West; two nieces; several nephews; several great nieces and great nephews and a host of special friends and relatives, all of whom she held dear to her heart. In addition to her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Timothy Dean Newsome; a daughter, Laura Jean Newsome; a brother, James Scurry Coursey and a nephew, David Gordan Knight.
