Marie Cooper Thompson, 101, formerly of 202 Kitson Street, widow of Morris L. Thompson, Sr., died Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at NHC Health Care Center. Born in Greenwood County, she was a daughter of the late Willie F. and Minnie Lee Ward Cooper. She retired from Greenwood Mills, where she was a member of the Quarter Century Club and from Parke-Davis. She was a member of Lowell Street United Methodist Church and the Cheerful Workers Sunday School Class. Mrs. Thompson was a talented cook, seamstress and could always be found in her garden. She had a delightful sense of humor and was loved by her entire family. Surviving is her son and daughter-in-law, M. L. �Buddy�, Jr. and Doris Thompson; a son-in-law, Paul Walker; two sisters, Ruth Rush and Blanche Sligh; sister-in-law, Margaret Cooper, all of Greenwood; grandchildren, Beverly T. Nichols and husband, Steve, David Thompson, Casey Thompson, Jennifer Walker, Laura Godfrey and Donna W. Brown; foster grandson, Brent Barker and wife, Gwen; nine great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Joyce Walker; sisters, Lily Mae McKinney, Lois Jenkins and Margaret Drummond and brothers, Eunice Cooper and Walter Cooper.
