Marion Jean Merritt Garron, 95, of Greenwood, widow of Robert E. Garron, passed away Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at her home surrounded by her family.
Born in Greenwood, she was a daughter to the late Albert Lee Merritt and Annie Louise Clem Merritt. Marion, also known as Mama Jean found joy in simple pleasures. She enjoyed spending precious moments with family and friends, traveling to the mountains, and sharing stories that brought smiles and laughter to all who knew her. Her home was a sanctuary of love, and her legacy will forever live on in the hearts of her family and all whose lives she touched. She was a member of Waterloo Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by a son, Bobby Garron; a sister, Mildred Taylor; and grandchildren, James Robert Jordan, Lona Calkins and Allen Wideman.
Surviving are her children, Mike Garron, Brenda Driggers, Gwen Clardy (Ray Shelton), Linda Martin (Dever Ray), Faye Clark, Gerald Garron (Dianne) and Gloria Roach; twenty grandchildren; thirty great grandchildren; ten great-great grandchildren; and special friend and neighbor, Cheryl Mills.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, February 21, 2026, Shade Tree Revival Church with the Rev. Grady Lothridge and grandson, Richey Bishop officiating.
The family will receive friends before the service at the church from 1:00 -2:00 pm.
