Marion Symmes Patterson Sr, (Bo), 92, of Greenwood SC, peacefully passed away on October 7, 2026. He was born on June 6, 1934, in Greenwood SC, to the later Grover Cleveland and Fannie Patterson.
Bo began his education in Greenwood and subsequently entered the workforce, becoming a self-employed builder. Through his dedication and expertise, he built a reputation for quality craftsmanship that endeared him to the community he served. A proud veteran, Marion honorably served in the United States Navy, carrying the values of service and commitment throughout his life. He was an avid hunter and loved to spend time in his shop.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Fergurson Patterson, of 69 years, and his loving son, Marion Symmes Patterson Jr, "Pat" (Ronda) and adoring family that includes 3 granddaughters, Ashley (Dave) Koch, Katie Patterson, Brooke (Trevor) Ellis and 3 grandsons, Marion Symmes III "BJ" (Kylie) Patterson, Joshua (Beth) Patterson and Spencer (Sierra) Patterson. He had 21 great grandchildren. Bo cherished his family deeply and took great pride in watching them grow.
Marion was preceded in death by three sisters-Annie Weaver, Ada Patterson and Janie Patterson-as well as seven brothers-Joe Patterson, Henry Patterson, Carl Patterson, Robert Patterson, James Patterson, Wayne Patterson and Thomas Patterson.
A celebration of Life will be held for Marion"Bo" Patterson on Monday, October 12, 2026 at 11:30 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints, in Greenwood SC. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10-11:30, allowing those who knew and loved him to share in remembrance and comfort together.
Burial will take place at the Greenwood Memorial Gardens following the services, where he will be laid to rest among the trees he cherished so much.
The family expresses their heartfelt gratitude for the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time.
