Obituary

Marjorie Marion Gampert Buchanan, 82, of 1110 Marshall Road and formerly of Pawleys Island, wife of Henry C. Buchanan, Jr., died Monday, November 23, 2015 at Hospice House, Greenwood. Born in Elmhurst, IL, she was the daughter of the late Frederick C. and Doris Marion Parke Gampert. She attended Drake University, Des Moines, IA, was a realtor and enjoyed working with fabrics in a fabric shop. Marjorie was an accomplished artist, an avid swimmer and loved riding racing bicycles. She and her husband were instrumental in planting a new church in Greenville, SC, St. Paul's Church, making the drive from Greenwood every Sunday morning for many years. She was most noted for her fabulous smile. Surviving is her husband; her children, who she loved deeply, Mark Lenz of Kent, CT, Robert Lenz of Minneapolis, MN and Sandra Jackson of Summerville, SC; a brother, Richard Gampert of Albuquerque, NM; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, it is requested that memorials be made to Hospice House, 408 W. Alexander Avenue, Greenwood, SC 29646 (hospicepiedmont.org) or to Alzheimer's Association, SC Chapter, 4124 Clemson Blvd., Suite L, Anderson, SC 29621 (alz.org). '
