Martha Dixon Thomas Attaway, 100, widow of Carl Attaway, died Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at Wesley Commons. Born in Jefferson County, GA, she was the daughter of the late James A. and Belle Thigpen Dixon. Martha was a supervisor for Sprint Telephone Company. She was a member of First Mt. Moriah Baptist Church and a member and former treasurer of the T.E.L. Sunday School Class. She was first married to the late George Marion Thomas and was the last surviving member of her immediate family, which spanned five generations. Surviving are a son, George Marion Thomas, Jr. (Beverly) of Hodges; a daughter-in-law, Pat Thomas of Greenwood; three grandchildren, Joshua, Deeann, Mike Thomas; three great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Whitely Thomas; a stepdaughter, Betsy Crumpton; and a stepson, Wallace Attaway. Pallbearers will be C. Brown, Carroll Ethridge, George Warner, Robert E. Bryant, Billy Fuller, and Chris McCune. Honorary escort will be Men of First Mt. Moriah and the T.E.L. Sunday school class. Memorials may be made to First Mt. Moriah Baptist Church; 2107 Mt.
