Martha Kinard Taylor, 85, of 139 Devon Park, widow of Thomas Ray Taylor, Sr., died Friday, January 6, 2017 at Hospice House.
Born in Greenwood, she was a daughter of the late Calvin Washington "Cal" Kinard and Emmie Broadwater Kinard. Martha was a graduate of Greenwood High School and Erskine College. She taught many students throughout her career as a second grade teacher in several Greenwood County elementary schools, including Woodfields Elementary School, Merrywood Elementary School and Cambridge Academy. Following her retirement, she participated in a kindergarten program for cerebral palsy students through the United Way. She was a faithful member of First Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Marty Carroll (Vaughn) of Edisto Beach and Catherine Kelly (Jerry) of Clearwater, FL; her son, Tom Taylor, Jr. (Vanessa) of Greenwood; a brother, Calvin William Kinard (Sylvia) of Epworth; nine grandchildren and long time friend, Hugh Tucker of Greenwood.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Graham Harris.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at First Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Todd McCoy and the Rev. Bobby Gilbert officiating. Burial will be private.
Pallbearers will be Thomas Kinard, Andrew Kinard, Cal Kinard, Graham Kinard, Jack Cox, Thomas Taylor, Taylor Cox, Bob Taylor, John Kelly and Tom Kelly.
A reception will be held immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall.
