Marvin Ernest Taylor, 86, of 227 Phillips Circle, husband of Virginia McNeely Taylor, died Monday, December 18, 2017 at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Ernest and Ann Phillips Taylor. He formerly worked for Greenwood Mills, Durst Plant and later opened his own business, Taylor's Station. Mr. Taylor was a US Navy veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict. He was an avid Gamecock fan and a member of Eastside Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are his daughters, Donna Bledsoe (Ray) and Karen Collum (Larry), both of Greenwood; grandchildren, Todd Marvin Collum, Kimberly Suttles and Chris Bledsoe; four great grandchildren; twelve great great grandchildren; and a special dog, Boots.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Marty Thomas Taylor and Glenn E. Taylor and a grandson, Jeremy Colman.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at the Harley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Donald Ramsey officiating. Burial, with military honors, will follow at Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be J.B. Calliham, Preston Upton, Chad Adams, David Hallman, Jason Dixson and Heyward Duffie.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
