Mary Jane Godfrey Brookshire, 86, of Greenwood, wife of Talmadge Brookshire, passed away Thursday, September 5, 2024, at Self Regional Medical Center.

Born in Sandersville, Georgia, she was a daughter of the late T. M. Godfrey and Louise Cook Green. Mary retired from Grendel Mills and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She had a passion for reading and was a faithful member of the Durst Avenue Church of God where she attended services regularly until her health condition prevented her from doing so.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Bobby Pounds and Russell Brookshire and a brother, Gerald Green.

Surviving in addition to her husband of the home are her daughters, Barbara Register (Kenny) and Elaine Brookshire, both of Greenwood; sister, Ruby Brantley; brother, Thomas Godfrey; five grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren.

Services will be held at 1:30pm on Sunday at Harley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Randy Ouzts officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 2-4pm.
