Mary Frances Walker Dowis, 88, of Ninety Six, widow of Fred Donald "Pinky" Dowis, passed away Wednesday, October 13, 2021, at Wesley Commons Rehab.

Born in Greenwood, she was a daughter of the late Tom and Sallie Sanders Walker. Mary was a very established banking professional with many accreditations and awards including being named SC Secretary of the year in 1981 and the former National President for the National Association of Bank Women. She retired as VP of County Bank where she opened their first trust department. Mary returned to work at Greenwood Bank and Trust, opening their trust department also. She was a member of Ninety Six First Baptist Church where she was active with several committees and services.

She was preceded in death by her son, Donnie Dowis and six siblings.

Surviving are a daughter, Susan Collins; daughter-in-law, Lynda Dowis; two sisters, Jessie Walker and Emma Jean Walker; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and her special caretaker for many years, Martha Moon.

Graveside services will be held at 11 am on Saturday at Elmwood Cemetery with the Rev. Chuck Sprouse officiating.

The family will receive friends following the service at the graveside.
