Mary Frances Crowe Whitt, 88, widow of Roy Franklin Whitt, Sr., died Wednesday, April 8, 2026 at Hospice and Palliative Care of the Piedmont.
Born in Comer, GA, she was a daughter of the late James Robert and Nola Duncan Crowe.
Mary Frances dedicated her career to the education of children as a teaching assistant with Greenwood School District 50. Her passion for education was matched by her commitment to her community, exemplified through her volunteer work with the American Cancer Society's Reach to Recovery program and Hospice and Palliative Care of the Piedmont. Beyond her work, Mary Frances was a member of the Ladies Golf Association at Star Fort Golf Club and a member of Woodfields Baptist Church, where she formerly taught the Priscilla Class and participated actively in the Women's Ministry Team.
Mary Frances is survived by her children, Donna Jennings, Peggy DeLoach (Robert), Joyce Gambrell, Missy Harrison (Brad) and Roy F. "Chip" Whitt, Jr. (Robin); a sister, Shirley McElrath; brothers, Ray Crowe (Bonnie) and Richard Crowe; eight grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren.She was preceded in death by sisters, Willie Ruth Barbee and Betty Bennett; brothers, Nolan Crowe and Charles Crowe and a granddaughter, Amy Gambrell.
Services will be at 2:00 pm on Friday at the Harley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Chuck Sprouse officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Matt DeLoach, Dylan DeLoach, Rette Miller, Drew Gaylord, Jaylon Long and Pharrell Long.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 12:30-2:00 pm.
