Obituary

Mary Parris Hellams, 74, of 958 Old Chappells Ferry Road, Saluda, died Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at her home.

Born in Laurens, she was a daughter of the late Jessie Bell Pace Parris. Mary retired from Monsanto and was a member of Second Baptist Church in Laurens.

She was preceded in death by a son, Johnny Cleveland Starnes; a daughter, Lisa Hellams; a sister, Sara Dow; and a brother, Bobby Parris.

Surviving are her children, Elaine Weeks, David Starnes, Jr., both of Saluda and Johnny Hellams (Becky) of Laurens; three sisters, Betty Walker (Jack) of Laurens, Margaret McDowell (Brooks) of Ninety Six, and Mary Fuller of Saluda; five brothers, Russell Parris (Margaret) of Saluda, Raymond Parris of Laurens, Edward Parris (Shelvie), Wayne Parris (Sylvia) both of Ninety Six, and Ricky Culbertson of Laurens; grandchildren, Joe Boddie (Robin), Jeffery Boddie (Carmen Clark), both of Ninety Six, Ben Hellams of Laurens, Nicole Morris, Kasey Blanchett, both of Waterloo, Kristen Dean (Stephen), Faith Blanchett, and McKayla Blanchett, all of Laurens; great grandchildren, Peyton Boddie, Kaylie Boddie, Raven Boddie, Autumn Boddie, all of Ninety Six, Jace Daniel of Saluda, Alyssa Morris, Becca Morris, Emma Morris, Matthew Edger, all of Waterloo, and Brooklynn Dean of Laurens; and a special great nephew, Tommy Price of Ninety Six.

Services will be held at 12 Noon on Monday, November 19, 2018 at Saluda Church of God with the Rev. Derrick Jones officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Laurens.

Pallbearers will be Matt Parris, Michael Parris, Jason Parris, Danny Ray Anthony, Johnny Parris, and Jeremy Allen.

Honorary escort will be Danny Lowe, Danny Anthony, Jerry Lowe, Jacob Starnes, Dr. Bill Sawyer, past and present staff of M.S.A Hospice, Tim Jones, Ganeva Young, Randy Hopkins, Peggy Williams, and Ann Brotherton.

The body is at the home where the family will receive friends from 12 Noon – 8:00 p.m. on Sunday.
