Mary Alice Ballard Lomax, 86, of 122 Eddy Road, wife of George "Jr" W. Lomax, Jr., died Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Newberry, she was the daughter of the late Willie B. and Mattie Masters Ballard. She moved to Ninety Six in 1949 and was retired from Greenwood Mills, where she was a member of the Quarter Century Club. Mary was a devoted member of Cambridge United Methodist Church, where she was a part of the Eveready Sunday School Class, a member of the choir, and a former Sunday School teacher.
Surviving in addition to her husband of the home are her son, Neil Lomax (Becky) of Greenwood; brother, John Ballard of Ninety Six; four grandchildren, Audrey Cole (Michael) of Bakersfield, CA, Caroline Bush (Bennet) of Ninety Six, Zoe Lomax and Anna Ebert, both of Greenwood; three great grandchildren, Addy Colon, Raelynn Cole, both of Bakersfield, CA, and Makayla Cole of Greenwood; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Ercel B. Kyzer, Jennie B. Merchant, and Margaret Yochem Boone, and a brother, Roy Ballard.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday at Cambridge United Methodist Church with the Rev. Hank Brooks officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Barry Hartman, Mike Hall, Brian Hall, Jason Burden, Kyle Burden, and Shane Sprouse.
Honorary escort will be members of the Eveready Sunday School class and members of Celebration Ladies.
The family will receive friends before the service from 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the church.
