Obituary

Mary Irene Henderson Ouzts gained her angel wings on Saturday morning, Jul 15, 2017, at her daughter's home in Greenwood, SC.
Born May 6, 1930, she has lived in Maitland, FL for 43 years, but was born in McCormick, SC. She was the daughter of the late Barney Rufus and Sarah McNeill Henderson of McCormick and the widow of Carl Ouzts of Maitland, FL. They were married for 60 years.
She is survived by her three children, Barney Ouzts of McCormick, SC and Maitland, FL, Shirley Hill (Billy) of St. Cloud, FL and Peggy Galphin of Ninety Six and Greenwood, SC. She was so very proud of her five grandchildren, Shannon Hill Kitchen (Deeb-Paul) of Fort Meyers, FL, Christen Hill Haaland (Aaron) of Winter Park, FL, the late Jordan Galphin of Ninety Six, SC, Carla Galphin (and fiancé Andy Waxel) of Nashville, TN, and Emily Galphin Richeson (Tyler) of Fort Campbell, KY. She is also survived by three precious great grandchildren, Sariya Kitchen of Fort Meyers, FL, Allison Haaland of Winter Park, FL, and Justice Haaland of Winter Park, FL.
Mary was preceded in death by six siblings, infant brothers, Augustus and Marion, James "Andrew" Henderson (Winifred), Rufus "McNeill" Henderson (Genevieve), Thomas "Raymond" Henderson (Nell), and a sister, Elizabeth "Libby" Henderson.
Mary served her church, her God and her community for many years of her adult life. She was a Sunday school teacher, a Sunbeams teacher, and a church choir member. Her occupation was that of a "stay at home" mom and she had a heart of gold. She was rarely without her bright smile. She loved God, her family, singing, and reading. Mary will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know her during her 87 years. We know she is laughing, singing, and praising God with loved ones who have gone on ahead. She has been healed and her dementia is gone.
Visitation will be Friday, July 21, 2017 from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. at Harley Funeral Home in Greenwood, SC.
