Joe Melvin Pace, 79, of 1106 Highway 248, widower of Minnie West Pace, died Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at his home. Born in Pickens, he was a son of the late J. Vernon and Ada Daves Pace. He was retired as a superintendent from Greenwood Mills, Adams Plant, where he was a member of the Quarter Century Club. He played baseball with the Textile League and has served as Greenwood�s representative for IPTAY. Melvin was a charter member of Cambridge United Methodist Church, where he attended Sunday School and formerly served as the church treasurer. Surviving are a daughter, Peggy Pace of Ninety Six; two brothers, Jerry Pace of Easley and Harold Pace of Pickens; two grandsons, Brad Alford and his wife, Sondra, and Joey Alford and his wife, Kim; a great granddaughter, Brady Alford; a great grandson, Justin Alford; two step great grandsons, John Avery and Will Avery and his special friend, Kat Leopard.
