Michael Charles Hammett, 70, of Greenwood, passed away on September 27, 2026.

Born in Gaffney, SC, he was the son of the late Charles Benjamin Hammett, Jr. and Ludie Guest Hammett. 

He was a devoted member of First Baptist Church of Greenwood, where his strong faith was an important part of his life. With his bubbly, energetic personality and genuine love for others, he was a friend to everyone he met and had a special way of bringing joy to those around him. Music was one of his great loves, and for many years, he shared that passion as a member of the church choir. His faith, joyful spirit, and love of music were woven throughout his life and will be fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at First Baptist Church of Greenwood with the Reverend Bill Harris officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Harley Funeral Home and Crematory, PO Box 777, Greenwood, SC 29648 towards Michael's service.
