Michael James Nicks, 36, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, January 10, 2026.
Born in Greenwood, he was a son of James Preston Nicks and Angela Thomas Nicks. Michael built a successful career as a rigger with Rusche & Associates, installing equipment to serve hospitals and doctor's offices across the country. He was also a proud business partner at The Port Grill, where his passion in serving his patrons and commitment to his work shone brightly.
Michael was not just a collaborator; he was a friend to many. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life-hunting, fishing, golfing, riding motocross and watching the Clemson Tigers. He had an infectious spirit and a knack for bringing laughter to those around him, creating cherished memories with friends. Michael will always be remembered for his love of fun and the kindness he shared with everyone in his life.
Michael is survived by his mother, Angela Nicks; his father and stepmother, James and Janice Nicks; his sister, Heather Danielle Belt (Tyler); a niece, Rosalie Hutto; a nephew, Jensen Nicks; a stepbrother, Chris Garrett and a "sister", Kayla Burnette.
He was preceded in death by a stepbrother, Joseph "Joe Joe" Garrett.
Services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday at the Harley Funeral Home Chapel.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 5:00-7:00 p.m.
