Michael Ross Wiedemann, 31, of 4516 Storkland Avenue, Columbia, passed away Saturday, September 22, 2018.

Born in Greenville, he was a son of Edward Lloyd and Sally Elaine Bethea Wiedemann. He was a 2005 graduate of Greenwood High School and 2009 Clemson University graduate, where he earned his BS degree in Biology. He was employed by Shealy Environmental as a lab tech and taught Life Sciences at Clinton Middle School and Sand Hills Middle School in Lexington. Michael was an Eagle Scout, an avid reader, and loved being outdoors, going camping, and attending concerts. He was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church, where he was a former active member in the youth group (UMYF). Through the UMYF, Michael served numerous years at Salkehatchie Summer Service.

Surviving are his parents of Greenwood; brother, John Edward Wiedemann (Ashleigh) of Charleston; sister, Emily Wiedemann Ensor (Duane) of Greenville; longtime girlfriend, Delleney Love of Columbia; grandmother, Barbara McNeil Wiedemann of Murrells Inlet; niece Margaret Townes Ensor; a nephew expected in December; aunts and uncles, Willis and Tangie Bethea, Liz and Dave Fuller, Mandy Keaveny, Bryan and Lisa Pettit, Nancy Wiedemann; and numerous cousins.

Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Main Street United Methodist Church with Pastor James McCoy-Bruce and Rev. David Ensor officiating.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Harley Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Main Street United Methodist Church, 211 North Main Street, Greenwood, SC 29646 or to Livi's Library, 1760 Shamrock Avenue, Lancaster, SC 29720. Livi's Library is a foundation that was set up in memory of Michael's 9 year-old cousin, who shared his passion for reading. In memory of Michael and Livi, a box will be available at the visitation and funeral to collect new or gently used children's books to be shared with elementary school children in South Carolina.
