William Michael Bryan, 64, resident of 110 Carriage Ct., husband of Sherry Gilman Bryan, went to be with his Lord on Thursday, June 22, 2017 at his home from a battle of lung, bone and liver cancer.
Born April 23, 1953 in Raleigh, NC, to the late George F. and Nina Eskridge Bryan, Mike was the youngest of three sons. He was a 1971 graduate of Asheville High School, and was a veteran of the US Army, where he last served in Heidelberg, Germany. He attended Asheville-Buncombe Technical College in Asheville, NC where he studied Electrical Engineering Technology. Mike was employed at CenturyLink for a total of 28 years, (including his time as a contractor where he served as a PBX Key technician, cable splicer, cut-over technician and installation and repair technician), with the last 11 years as a Central Office technician.
He enjoyed live music and his favorite musician was Warren Haynes, whom Mike new as a long time personal friend. Mike was an Eagle Scout, and he enjoyed camping, fishing, rafting, hiking, water and snow skiing. He was also an avid golfer. He was a member of Abney Memorial Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are two sons, Zachary Michael Bryan of San Diego, CA, and Jordan Robert Bryan of Greenwood, SC; two step children, Leslie Dawn Dobbins of Anderson, SC, and Daniel Clayton Vickery, of Mauldin, SC; a niece, Nina Ann Hawkins of Ft. Walton Beach, FL; a great nephew, Bryan Eric Harman of Coronado, CA and a great, great niece, Layla Harman of Coronado, CA.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, George F. Bryan, Jr. and John H. Bryan.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 25. 2017 at Abney Memorial Baptist Church with the Rev. Brent Bennett officiating. Burial, with military honors, will follow at Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Zachary Bryan, Jordan Bryan, Dubie Brown, Tommy Bryan, Duane Terry, and John Howard.
Honorary escort will be his co-workers of Century Link.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at Harley Funeral Home and Crematory.
