Elbert Michael "Mike" Horne, 64, of Ninety Six, died Monday, April 17, 2023 at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born in Greenwood, he was a son of Vara Weeks Bradley and the late Elbert Maxie Horne. Mike was a dedicated carpenter for many years. He used his talents to draw floor plans and then created those plans with his own hands. There was never a dull moment when Mike was around and he referred to everyone with his favorite nickname, "Pete". He lit up a room with his smile and was always making someone laugh. Mike was a generous man and would give the shirt off his back if someone was in need. He loved the mountains and looked forward to the day he could retire there.
Mike is survived by his mother and stepfather, Vara and J. W. Bradley; daughters, Crystal McLeod (Timmy) and Michelle Horne; his wife of Ninety Six, Maxine Horne; his stepchildren, Kris Brewer (Jamie) and Wayne Boddie; his brothers, Stevie Horne (Robyn) and Tony Horne (Dana); his sisters, Shirley Horne and Norma Clark (Jared); grandchildren, Hannah McLeod, Breanna McLeod, Hunter King, River King, Lakeland Carroll and Thomas Carroll; step grandchildren, Colton Brewer and Brayden Brewer; along with many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Friday at the Harley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Russell Addis officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 3:00-4:00 p.m.
