Mildred Elizabeth Penland Norris, 90, of 8103 Highway 25 South, wife of Rayford �Sam� Norris, died Sunday, April 3, 2011 at Hospice House, Greenwood, SC following a long illness. Born in Asheville, NC, she was a daughter of the late Charles Crawford and Mamie Turner Penland and was also preceded in death by two sisters, Katherine Baumgardner and Barbara Penland and a half brother, James Penland. She was employed by Sears in Asheville before moving to Greenwood in the 1970s. She was a member of South Main Street Baptist Church, Greenwood, and the Reapers Sunday School Class. Surviving are her husband of the home; three sons, Phillip Cannon of Charlotte, NC, Dr. Ronald Cannon of Asheville, NC and Allen Marshbanks of Weaversville, NC; a special niece, Karen Carter of Asheville, NC; four granddaughters; four great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
