Millard Baker, 82, of Hodges, widower of his lifelong love of Barbara Waites Baker, passed away Friday, May 10, 2024, at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born in Sanford, NC, he was a son of the late Caleb Lester Baker and Virginia Ruth Lollis Baker. Millard was the owner and operator of Baker Body Shop. He enjoyed fishing, watching cowboy movies and listening to real country music, especially George Jones. Millard was a great story teller, his family was most important to him and his favorite times were spent with them. He was of the Church of God faith.
He is survived by his son, Vincent Lee Baker (Dana); daughters, Cheryl B. Phillips (Sam) and Sharon B. Powell (Chip), all of Hodges; sister, Juanita Akers (Cliff) of Hodges; brothers, Mack Baker of Richmond, VA and Carlton Baker (Betty) of Sanford, NC; grandchildren, Zachary Powell, Wesley Powell, Benji Baker and Caleb Baker; great grandchildren, Andelyn Powell, Grayson Powell, Zane Powell, Karsyn Bowie, Will Baker, Aubree Baker, Kaiden Baker, Garrison Baker, Kendall Powell and Kenzley Powell.
In addition to his wife, Barbara, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Devry Bowie; three brothers, Furman Baker, James Baker, and Don Baker; and a sister, Elizabeth Martin.
Services will be held at 2:00PM on Monday, May 13, 2024, at Harley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Lamar Babb officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends before the service at the funeral home from 1-2:00 PM.
The family is at the home of his daughter Sharon Powell, 1114 East Grumling Road, Hodges.
