Jerald Mitchell "Mitch" Steele, 63, of Hodges, husband of Ginger Richardson Steele, died Sunday, May 17, 2026.

Born on December 21, 1962, in Greenwood, he was a son of Sondra and Tommy Miles and the late Jerald Lee Steele. A devoted family man and outdoorsman, Mitch's passion for the outdoors manifested through his love of fishing and hunting, pursuits that brought him joy and a profound connection to the natural world. He cherished his role as a family man, holding a special place in his heart for his grandchildren, with whom he shared many memorable moments. A proud Army veteran, Mitch served his country honorably, embodying the values of courage, integrity, and commitment.

Surviving in addition to his wife and parents are his daughters, Kelsi Renee Steele and Halie Bobbie Michelle Steele; his four grandchildren: Kira, Haze, Aria and Kora; a brother, Greg Steele; sisters Sandie Jernigan and Shannon Cockrell (Danny); and half sister, Sonya Steele.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
