Myra Wells Hancock,92, of 129 Saluda Street, Ninety Six, passed away Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at her home.
Born in Greenwood, SC, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Helen Wood Wells. She was the daughter in law to the late J.C. and Minnie Barnes Hancock. Myra graduated from Greenwood High School in 1950 and was a member of Ninety Six Church of God. She was twice married, first to the late Rev. C. Eugene Hancock, who served as Church of God pastor for 42 years. Married for 60 years, they served a number of churches throughout South Carolina. After Reverend Hancock's passing, she married the late Wilbur Ray Harvley. Myra worked as a caregiver and retired from Home Health Care.
Surviving is her son, Donald Hancock and his wife, Patsy, of Six Mile; two daughters, Avis Scruggs and her husband, Terry, of Rock Hill, and Karen Howard and her husband, Rick, of Chester; stepdaughter, Vickie McFarland and stepson, Randy Harvley, both of Ninety Six; seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by a son, Philip Hancock; grandson, Jonathan Hancock; a brother, Thomas N. Wells and his wife, Janice Wells; and a sister, June Lowery-Turner.
Services will be held at 2pm Saturday at Harley Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be private.
The family will receive friends before the service at the funeral home from 1-2pm.
