Obituary

Myrtle Wilson Smith, 90, formerly of 116 Lawton St., widow of Dewey Smith, died Sunday morning, January 10, 2010 at National Healthcare Center in Greenwood. Born in Greenwood County, she was a daughter of the late Jessie Edgar Wilson and Eva Maybell Cooper Wilson. Mrs. Smith was retired from Greenwood Mills Mathews Plant where she was a member of The Quarter Century Club. She was a lifetime member of Jordan Memorial Baptist Church where she was also a member of the Mary Ouzts Sunday School class. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her sons, Wilson Dewey Smith and Renny Smith, a brother, Twymond Wilson, two sisters, Mrs. Sam �Polly� Wright, and Margaret Herbert. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Mary Ellen Smith of Taylors, SC, four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Honorary escorts will be members of The Mary Ouzts Sunday school class. In lieu of flowers, her family requests that memorial contributions be made to Jordan Memorial Baptist Church, PO Box 1267, Greenwood, SC 29648 and The American Cancer Society, PO Box 1781, Greenwood, SC 29648. Mrs. Smith�s family wishes to express deep appreciation to the staff of NHC for their kindness, love, and commitment to expert care.
