Nancy Elizabeth Gilliam, 93, of 422 Stevens Avenue, passed away peacefully on the evening of July 3, 2012. Born in Newberry, S.C. on December 5, 1918, she the daughter of the late George Hamilton Livingston and Lula Martin Livingston. She is the last surviving member of her immediate family of three sisters, one brother, two step-brothers and three step-sisters. She was twice married, first to the late Edward Eugene Brock, who was killed in action in 1945. She later married the late John B. Gilliam in 1951 and where upon they moved to Greenwood. Elizabeth was of the Lutheran faith and originally was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Greenwood. She was a homemaker and also enjoyed gardening. Most of all she was a devoted mother and grandmother. Surviving are her two daughters, Phyllis Brock Stewart and Edna Brock Adams, both of Greenwood; seven grandchildren, Karen S. Phillips, Tim H. Stewart, Susan S. Madden, Chris Stewart, Keenan W. Adams, Brock Adams and Matthew Adams; four great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be her grandsons and special friend Travis Bannister. The family would like to express their gratitude to Vanessa Henderson, of Home Health Care and special friend and caregiver, Stephanie Calliham.
