Nancy Smith Leagan, 85, of 109 North Church Street, Ninety Six, widow of Ivey N. Leagan, died Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at her home.
Born in Shelton, SC, she was a daughter of the late Richard Hogan and Lillian Dickerson Smith. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Ninety Six, where she was a member and former treasurer of the Ebbie McCarthy Sunday School and was a former church hostess. She was a member of D.A.V. Chapter 42 Auxiliary, where she served as commander for a number of years and a member of the American Legion Post 102 Auxiliary.
Surviving are daughters, Sheila Whedbee of Modoc, Dianne Bryan of Ninety Six and Nancy Collins (Kenneth) of Garden City, GA; a sister, Sue Ann Bickley (James Ray) of Prosperity; a brother, Richard Edward Smith of Saluda; grandchildren, Lee Fuller, Daniel Spivey, John Howard, Melissa Marr, Teresa Yarborough, Laura Spruill, Sammie Jo Waters, Vickie Soderlund, Jean Ann Hendrix, Katie Keaton and Julia Griffin. Miles Spivey, along with thirty other great grandchildren; and twenty eight great great grandchildren.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday at First Baptist Church of Ninety Six with the Rev. Chuck Sprouse officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Wayne Burton, Bob Clinkscales, Tommy Eddie, Darrell Lockaby, Ernest Bryan, and Bob Womack.
Honorary escort will be members of the Ebbie McCarthy Sunday School Class and the D.A.V. Auxiliary Chapter 42.
The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
The family is at the home of her daughter, Dianne Bryan, 105 North Church Street, Ninety Six.
