Nancy Kirby Lukens 85, of Taylors SC, widow of Richard Eugene Lukens, passed away Thursday May 1st at Hospice and Palliative Care of the Piedmont.
Born in Decatur, IL, she was the daughter of the late Leslie and Helen Dean Kirby. She and Richard were married for 65 years prior to his death in November 2024.
Nancy was a dedicated mother who cherished her family above all else, raising three sons with love, patience, and unwavering support. Her culinary talents were well-known, as she delighted friends and family with her fried chicken, pastries, and homemade cinnamon rolls. A true artisan at heart, Nancy also enjoyed crafting, knitting, and quilting, pouring her creativity into every stitch and design. She also worked in retail as a department manager, HR trainer and as a buyer.
Nancy accepted Christ at 11 years old and loved the Lord. She was strong in her faith and a member of multiple Baptist churches through the years. She will be remembered for her strong love for her family and by others for her warm spirit and generous heart.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Michael Lukens.
Surviving are her sons, Jeffrey Lukens (Leigh Ann) and Richard K. Lukens (Margaret); five grandchildren- Joshua, Katie, Rachel, Ryan (Kendal), and Jordan (Danielle); and great grandson, Jude.
Family will greet visitors at 1 pm on Monday May 5th at Harley Funeral Home in Greenwood. A short service will follow at 2pm in the Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Archie Moore officiating. Graveside services will follow at Oakbrook Memorial Park.
