Obituary

Nellie Sue Shipes, 90, of 502 Norwood Avenue, widow of Donald Shipes, passed away Saturday, October 30, 2021 at Hospice and Palliative Care of the Piedmont.

Born in Greenwood, she was the daughter of the late Malcolm M. and Willie Mae Tomlinson Scott. She was formerly employed with Greenwood Mills No. 4 and 5. Ms. Nellie was a member of Lowell Street United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Willing Workers Class.

Surviving are her children, Malcolm Terry Shipes (Pam) and Pamela Susan Bratcher (Ray); three grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Donald she was preceded in death by a son, Richard Donald Shipes.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Greenwood Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Cheryl Remchuk officiating.
