Orma Mae "Sissie" Bowie, 80, of Greenwood, widow of Louie Blanchett Bowie passed away Sunday, July 20, 2025 at her home.
Born on June 3, 1945 in Beckley, WV, she was a daughter of the late Harold Copeland and Mildred Kirby Brooks. Sissie was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and friend.
She led a life filled with love and joy, embracing the simple pleasures that life offered. Known for her feistiness and infectious sense of humor, she found great delight in her everyday activities. Whether she was listening to her favorite tunes or indulging in her fondness for thrift shopping, Sissie's spirit remained vibrant and alive. Her love for the outdoors shone brightly as she spent countless hours tending to her yard and nurturing her beautiful garden. She had a weakness for the flavors of Mexico, often sharing delicious meals at Ernestos with family and friends. Family was the cornerstone of her life. She cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, creating a legacy of love that will live on through them. Her heart deeply resided with her family and furry companions, including her beloved dog, Lulu, and her feathery friend, Lovey. A member of Lakeside Pentecostal Church, Sissie's faith guided her through life, providing her strength and community.
She is survived by her children, Stevie Wayne Bowie, Greg Bowie, and Libby Bowie; sister, Beverly Brooks; grandchildren, Steven Wayne Bowie, Michael Brandon Bowie, Jessica Bowie Ward, and Summer Edwards; and numerous great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Ann Funderburk and two brothers, Ronald Lee Copeland and Gary Brooks.
The family will have a memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, July 28th at Lakeside Pentecostal Church with Pastor Billy Wells officiating.
The family will receive friends following the service.
