Pastor Elvin Jerry Catoe, Jr., 67, of Greenwood, husband of Ann Catoe, passed away Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at his home.

Born in Hartsville, SC, he was the son of the late Elvin Jerry Catoe and Alice May King Catoe. He received his associate degree from Holmes Bible College in Greenville and was the Pastor at Abbeville Pentecostal Holiness Church for eleven years this month. In addition to being Pastor he led the Sidewalk Sunday School Ministry for the children. Pastor Catoe was a true man of God; a people person; a kid magnet; Clemson fan; loving fur dad to his fur baby, Cocoa; and a loving husband and father. He was the mission's director for the Upper SC Conference of the IPHC, where he served on three mission trips to Peru, Cuba, and Guiana. Pastor Catoe was also a sports announcer at the Abbeville High School football games and the former Middle School football coach at Greenwood Christian.

After being diagnosed with cancer he preached a sermon titled "Don't Waste the Pain" in which he used a motorcycle and elliptical as illustrations bringing both into the church.

He is survived by his wife, Ann; sons, Jeremy Catoe and Dustin Catoe; sister, Rita Evans (Skeeter); niece, Jennifer King; and nephew, Brian Evans.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at Real Life Ministries with the Rev. Ray Boggs and Rev. Jason McCary officiating. Burial will follow at Pinelawn Memory Gardens in Clinton.

Pallbearers will be Bubba Garron, Charlie Williams, Billy Ferguson, Chuck Francis, Steve Ellis, and Steve Thomason.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at the church.
