Patrcia Stargel Gary of Greenwood, wife of Les Gary, passed away on July 16, 2026 at her home.
Born in Greenville she was a daughter of the late Joe Stargel and Lois Lorene Gunter.
Pat was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother whose greatest joy in life was caring for those she loved. She shared a deep and abiding love with her devoted husband of 14 years, and together they built a life centered on faith, family, and unwavering support for one another.
A faithful believer in God, Pat attended Harris Baptist Church, where her faith guided the way she lived each day. She had a servant's heart and found joy in helping others, whether through her work or in her everyday life.
Pat treasured her time working at the Kwik San Restaurant, where she formed lasting friendships and genuinely enjoyed serving others. She also owned and operated her own daycare, After School Kids (A.S.K.), where she lovingly cared for countless children. Pat was more than a caregiver, she was a trusted friend, a source of comfort, and a positive influence on the lives of so many young people.
Known for her caring and selfless spirit, Pat always put the needs of others before her own. She had a warm smile, a generous heart, and an ability to make everyone feel welcome. Those who knew her called her “Maw-Maw” and knew there was one time she cherished herself her famous "nap nap" time.
Pat had a playful spirit that brought laughter wherever she went. She loved playing harmless pranks on family and friends, delighting in the smiles and laughter they always produced. She looked forward to every Easter egg hunt with the excitement of a child and treasured the memories of sneaking into the closet with her sisters to enjoy a dessert together. A tradition Pat held especially close to her heart was "Sisters Day." Her bond with her daughter, Amber, was extraordinary, they were truly best friends, sharing a lifetime of love, laughter, and unwavering support. Beneath her fun-loving personality was a deep sense of honesty and integrity.
She is survived by her loving husband, Les Gary; daughter Amber Polston (Michael); son, Jason S. Sherman (Heather); sisters, Glenda Stargel (Clarence), Sandra S. Dodgen (Cory), Teresa Lewis (Chris), and more than a cousin but sister, Sissy Stewart (Rab); granddaughter, Mackenzie Sherman, and grandsons, Dawson Sherman (Kaylee) and Aiden Polston.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, July 19, 2026 at Harley Funeral Home with Pastor Tim Etters officiating.
The family will receive friends before the service from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Harley Funeral Home and Crematory P.O. Box 777 Greenwood Sc 29648, to be applied to Pat's funeral expenses.
