Obituary

Paul Charlie Blalock, 88, of 107 Bohmari Lane, died Thursday, May 26, 2011 at Magnolia Manor. He was a devoted husband to Doris Elizabeth Lomax Blalock for 67 years, a doting Daddy and �PawPaw�. He loved family, friends and the many, many young people he mentored throughout his life. Born in Lumpkin County, GA, he was a son of the late Albert and Mahala E. Nix Blalock. Mr. Blalock was a U. S. Army veteran, serving in the European Theater during WWII. He moved his family to Ninety Six in 1947 to work at Greenwood Mills for 20 years. After that he purchased Ninety Six Texaco where he was the owner and operator until he retired 19 years later. He was a member of the American Legion Star Fort Post 103, the past Post Commander, a Boy Scout Leader, a member of the Ninety Six Chamber of Commerce and sponsored Parks and Recreation baseball teams. Mr. Blalock was a member of Temple Baptist Church where he was a Deacon, former member of the choir, Sunday school teacher, in the Men�s Bible Class and helped with the Youth Boys Class. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Edgar Blalock, Kelton Blalock and Hershell Blalock and by two sisters, Conabell Morris and Elizabeth Blalock. Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are two daughters, Carolyn B.(Art) Asbill of Chappells and Marilyn B. Mulkey of the home; two sons, Douglas P. (Ann) Blalock of Katy, TX and Andy C. (Margie) Blalock of Ninety Six; a sister, Birdell Wade of Alto, GA; a brother Alex Blalock of Baldwin, GA; grandchildren, Janesca A. (Scott) Hazel, Elizabeth Ann A. (Mike) Davis of Saluda, Capt. William (Jessica) Mulkey of Prince George, VA, Staff Sgt. Paul (Helen) Drake of Ft. Bragg, NC, Amanda Blalock of Austin, TX, Sarah Blalock of Katy, TX, Anson Brinson of Greenwood, Zane Brinson and Samuel �Storm� Blalock both of Ninety Six and eight great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Will Mulkey, Paul Drake, Anson Brinson, Zane Brinson, Bobby Brown and Larry Womack. Honorary pallbearers will be Neil Lomax, Jeff Jones, Mike Duffie, Mike Balchin, Kevin Crittendon, Mike Buford, Warren Langley, the Men�s Bible Class and the American Legion Star Fort Post 103.
