Marion Paul Gentry, 76, of 225 Old Shoals Junction, Donalds, husband of Elaine Alexander Gentry, died Saturday, November 17, 2018 at Richard M. Campbell Veteran's Nursing Home.
Born in Greenwood, he was a son of the late James Robert and Ollie Taylor Gentry. He was retired from Monsanto and a US Marine Veteran, where he served in Vietnam. Mr. Paul enjoyed scuba diving, backpacking, bicycling, competing in marathons, and helping raise money for local charities. He was a member of Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church in Ware Shoals.
Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are his daughter, Doris Boyd (Larry) of Ninety Six; a son, Paul A. Gentry (Renee) of Cape Corral, FL.; sisters, Mary Fair, Betty Page (Frank), both of Greenwood, and Nancy Erwin (Terry) of Abbeville; brothers, Ray Gentry (Pam) and Robert Gentry (Janice), both of Greenwood; sister in law, Marion Gentry of Charleston; grandchildren, Andrew McCrainie (Emily) of Charleston, Candi Collins, Daniel Rickett, both of Greenwood, Savannah Gentry of Fayettville, NC., and Caleb Gentry of Cape Corral, FL.; and eight great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Steven Gentry; a sister Doris Medlock; a brother, James Gentry; and a brother in law, Larry Fair.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the Harley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Frank Page, Rev. Joe Black, and Retired General Darlene Goff officiating. Burial, with military rites, will follow at Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Andy McCranie, Scott Carter, Perry Gentry, Chuck Erwin, John Coleman, and Brian Griffin.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday before the service from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
