Paul Nolan Hudgens Jr, 73, of Greenwood, passed away Friday, January 31st,2025, at Self Regional Hospital.
Born in Jackson, Mississippi, he was the son of the late Paul Nolan Hudgens Sr and Dorothy Swingle Hudgens. Nolan lived a life marked by extraordinary intellect, a generous spirit, and an unwavering commitment to those he loved. He resided in Greenwood, South Carolina, where he made a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Nolan was an exceptionally gifted individual-able to fix anything that came his way, quick to share his insights, and always ready to engage in thoughtful conversation. His dry wit brought laughter to many, and his extensive knowledge of history enriched the lives of those around him. A graduate of the University of South Carolina, he earned a bachelor's degree in the Arts and later attained his law degree, passing the South Carolina Bar.
In an era ripe with busyness, Nolan remained a steadfast writer, ensuring that handwritten Christmas cards adorned with heartfelt messages found their way to family and friends. His frugality was matched only by his generosity; he was a man who, despite his thrifty nature, possessed a giving heart that touched many lives.
Nolan will be dearly remembered by his family and friends for his thoughtfulness, wisdom, and wit.
In addition to his parents, Nolan was preceded in death by his brother-in-law Henry Harris Caddell, and a nephew Elliot Henry Caddell.
Nolan is survived by his loving sister, Barbara Caddell, and his nephews, John Paul Caddell (Tina Cocal) and Edward Thomas Caddell, his dear friend Denise and Bruce Nelson, and Charlie and Ann West and his work family at Arby's.
