Paul Charles Wergin, 78, of 105 Woodbine Court, husband of Juna Lutz Wergin, died Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at his home. Born in Schuyler, NE, he was a son of the late Walter A. and Viola Joseph Wergin. He received his B.S. degree in Engineering and was retired from Western Electric and Grimes Aviation. He and a partner, David Yates, built an electric car, named the W-Y Electric Car, in the early 1970s, which he drove to work for a number of years. He served in the US Army. Paul was involved with Habitat for Humanity, where he served as President of the Board and organized the Re-Store. He delivered Meals on Wheels for seven years and worked for a number of years as the United Ministries Food Bank manager. Paul�s great love was woodworking. He began and organized The Council of Lakelands Area Woodworkers, serving as President and Secretary. Paul was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, where he served as one of God�s Gardeners. Surviving is his wife of the home; a son, Jeffrey Paul Wergin of Lexington; a daughter, Cynthia Marie Multer of Indian Land; three sisters and two brothers. Honorary escort will be members of The Council of Lakelands Area Woodworkers and God�s Gardeners of Immanuel Lutheran Church.
