Perry Walton �Papa� Mullenix, 84, of 208 Beaverdam Creek Road, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 3, 2011 while a patient at Hospice House, Greenwood, SC. Born in Elbert County, GA, he was a son of the late George H. and Sallie West Mullenix. Papa loved the Lord, his family and his church family. Saved at the early age of 13 in the cow pasture of his Georgia home, he was an avid Soul Winner and Servant of the Lord. He was a member of Augusta Highway Baptist Church and was retired from Monsanto. Papa was a cherished husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Rita Brookshire Mullenix; children, Teresa and Terry Simpkins of Easley, Samuel and Joyce Mullenix of Pensacola, FL, Tim and Sherry Mullenix, Joy and Kenny Griffin, all of Greenwood; eight grandchildren, Smokey and Buffie Bain, Adam and Buffy Mullenix, Adam Bain, Jeffrey Simpkins, Brett Mullenix and Kyle Griffin; three great grandchildren, Ansley Bain, Zakk and Gwen Mullenix; special �chosen as his own� grandchildren, Madeline and Heidi Whitmire; sisters-in-law, Dot Mullenix of Augusta, GA and Nettie Mullenix of Greenville; beloved poodle, CC, and dear friends, Fred and Pat Gray of Edinburg, TX. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Elise Smith and three brothers, Fred Mullenix, Harry Mullenix and Tom Mullenix and was the last member of his immediate family.
