James Perry �Pete� Cooper, Sr., 71, of 164 S. Ruth Walker Road, Waterloo, husband of Ruth Elledge Cooper, died Monday, September 27, 2010 at his home. Born in Laurens County, he was a son of the late Robert Lee and Allie Sidell Anderson Cooper. He was a retired carpenter and was a US Navy veteran. He was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church. Surviving is his wife of the home; his children, James Perry �Jim� Cooper, Jr. and his wife, Marilyn, of Troy, Kerry Cooper and his wife, Tonya, Mark Cooper and his wife, Lori, all of Greenwood, Tammy Cooper of Seneca; former daughter-in-law, Lisa Cooper of Callison; special nieces, Carleen Williamson and her husband, Lavern, Brenda Medlin, Debbie Wilson and her husband, John, Margie Seymore and her husband, Alan, and Takoyo Ware and her son, Jonah Shaffner; sisters, Patricia Thompson and her husband, Lowell, of Fripp Island and Miriam Bagwell of Clemson; a brother, Robert Cooper and his wife, Mary, of Waterloo; 14 grandchildren and a great grandchild. He was preceded in death by sisters, Mary McAllister, Virginia Davis and Sidell Cooper and brothers, Horace Cooper and Wilbur Cooper.
