Peter R. Maye, Jr., 89, formerly of 216 Irvine�s Circle, widower of Vivian Cannon Maye, died Sunday, July 25, 2010 at the Senior Care Center, St. Marys, GA. Born in Sumter, he was a son of the late Peter R. Maye, Sr. and Essie Wood Maye. He was the former owner and operator of Maye�s Paint Store and was a US Navy veteran of World War II, having served in the Pacific theater including the battle for Guadalcanal. He was a member of Siloam Baptist Church. He was twice married, first to the late Mary Smith Maye. Surviving are his son, Peter R. Maye, III and his wife, Doris, of St. Marys, GA; a sister, Thelma Gardner of California; a brother, Lloyd Maye of Johnson City, TN; two grandchildren, Chris Maye of Atlanta, GA and Dana Maye of Folkston, GA and four great grandchildren.
