PHIL KILKEARY
Joseph Philip "Phil" Kilkeary, 86, of Greenwood, widower of Catherine Conti Kilkeary, passed away Saturday, May 27, 2023 at Hospice and Palliative Care of the Piedmont.
Born in Pittsburgh, PA, he was a son of the late Joseph Thomas Kilkeary and Mary Louise Johnson Kilkeary. He was a veteran of the US Air Force, where he was a pilot. Phil was involved in numerous clubs and community organizations. He also loved playing tennis, going sailing, skiing, and traveling.
He is survived by his daughter, Kate Adan; son, David Kilkeary; and granddaughter, Michelle Adan (Timothy Campbell).
He was preceded in death by two brothers, John Kilkeary and Dave Kilkeary.
CATHERINE KILKEARY
Catherine Conti Kilkeary, 85, of Greenwood, wife of J. Philip Kilkeary, died Friday, April 28, 2023 at her home.
Born in Pittsburgh, PA, she was a daughter of the late Eugene and Genevieve Conti. Catherine received an Associate's degree in Education from St. Mary of the Woods and taught art. She later became a coding specialist with Anne Arundel General Hospital. She had her own art studio and designed programs for children's plays and made costumes. Her hobbies included playing tennis, golf and sailing. She volunteered with the Crisis Pregnancy Center in Hilton Head and at the Hospice Thrift Store.
Catherine was a terrific mother, often described as Wonder Woman, and taught her daughter, Kate, to also be a wonderful mom. She was a devoted wife to her husband of 63 years, who she always referred to as her best friend. She made everything she did look easy.
Catherine is survived by her children, Kathryn "Kate" Adan and David Bracken Kilkeary; granddaughter, Michelle Adan (Tim Campbell); sisters, Jane Hogan and Mary Christine Swift and brothers, Eugene Conti and Gregory Conti.
She was preceded in death by sisters, Suzanne Steinberg and Elizabeth Bellavonce.
A celebration of life will be held on June 24, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at the Harley Family Center.
